Maslow and Neighborhoods

Trying to get a grip on root causes of neighborhood successes and failures.

The grey items are analogues to the seven functions that John McKnight and Peter Block assert are best taken care of at the neighborhood level. Their item "Development of Children" is dispersed across Self-Actualization, Self-Esteem, Love and Belonging.

McKnight and Block's Land and Environment is not well identified here. We can let Property stand in but that is a very poor fit. Their Caring is diffused throughout this diagram which make it difficult to notice, measure, or improve upon.

Of course out focus is ReLocalize Creativity, so I have highlighted Creativity with solid purple in the diagram so one understands what is involved in nurturing and supporting the young people in our neighborhoods so that they can direct their creativity and Regenerating and ReLocalizing the places they live.
