Introduction to Conversations

We all get along through conversations, even conversations with ourselves. Conversations, talking, is a bit like the water the fish swim in, they may not be very aware of the medium that they were born into. Let's see if exploring our watery world of conversations can be useful--without getting theoretical.

What kinds of things do we take care of with our conversations?

What kinds of problems do we accidentally get ourselves into with conversations.

Are some of us better at getting things done through conversations? How does that work?

What kinds of conversations do we enjoy participating in?

What kinds of conversations fail us or frustrate us?

We explain things. We ask for things or for help. We try to give orders or instructions. We play and dream and imagine in conversations. We tell stories. We express feelings, and opinions, and decisions and likes and dislikes.

Some situations require a bunch of different types of conversations. Dating, marriage, work, travel, education.

Perhaps we can gain a little more familiarity with our watery world of talking that may make is safer and more fun to live in language with ourselves and others. > Please take a few moments to record a conversation with someone about the types of conversations that each of you enjoy participating in. Discuss at least three each. Consider writing something about the conversation. If you have a FedWiki site please copy this page and add your notes on enjoyable conversations. We can all find ways to interact with the favorites going forward.
