This is one of those moments

Who are your Lilliputians?

There are many connections that maintain the status quo. Imagine the giant, Gulliver, tied down to the earth by many bonds. Most institutions and even cultures have become so interconnected , historically and almost invisibly to other institutions and beliefs that they are similarly bound down--unchangeable.

Rarely there come moments in history where enough of the interconnections become visible and changeable (mostly because they are finally seen in their totality) that, if there is a very big motivation, the system can change dramatically. This is one of those moments. We are in a global pandemic, an economic upheaval, an acute and broad-based social awareness of Racism, with enough time for personal and collective reflection and action.

There are some approaches to change that are much more effective than others. My favorite is Idealized Design where we agree on the design of the system we truly wish we had now. It is very powerful. Before you start changing things, you get together and agree on what you really want--as if there were almost no dropping almost all constraints during the design phase. Of course many of those benefiting from the current system will Resist Change.
