Create an active group of practitioners to improve the use and usability of Stafford Beer's Viable System Model. A __Viability Group__ can be considered to be a Proto Institute - that is an entity on it's way to having minimal viable governance.
Olaf Brugman, Jon Walker, Allenna Leonard and Marc Pierson have embarked on a journey to produce VSM patterns for health systems at several levels of recursion, beginning with the Personal Health System, the family, the System of Neighborhood Health, the Local Public Health System (city-county), Local Medical System (non-viable), state, nation, and world.
This can be associated with ISSS if they are accepting of the approach. It is what Marc has been calling a "SIG-like group" that may create a bridge to future ISSS working groups.
There exists a 1 1/2 year long meeting of a few folks self named W.I.S.E.R. Networks which stands for a World In Sustainable Ecological Recursions. It is basically a group of VSM savvy folks who are intent on doing something with the VSM before it is too late. The group began with Marc Pierson, Peter Tuddenham, Allenna Leonard, Angela Espinosa, Jon Walker, Jan Borda, William Smith, Kerry Turner, Noah Williams and Louise Lowings. Most active at this juncture (Sept. 2020) are Marc, Allenna, Jon and Angela. We have exploratory work going on in Columbia and in Washington State. Seven of us met in Bogota in February 2020 to self-organize. This Brain site documents those meetings: Brain
